Jane Chappell MBA MSc FBCS
After several years in the commercial sector, Jane co-founded Arcanum in 2008. She has an MBA in International Management and an MSc in Information Assurance from Royal Holloway and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society. She is a highly experienced cyber security subject matter expert and is one of less than a dozen people with two Lead CESG Certified Cyber Professional (CCP) qualifications. Jane has in depth knowledge of information security within HMG having delivered security subject matter expertise to the Ministry of Defence; Government Departments and Agencies; the European Commission and NATO as well as UK, European and American Defence Companies. She has particular expertise in ISTAR, having worked as an RAF military intelligence officer and provided security and accreditation support to multiple projects for the MoD Intelligence and OGD communities. As a Reserve Officer she served in the British Army and was the first woman to command LIAG, the Army’s largest Cyber Security Unit.
Lawrie co-founded Arcanum in 2008 after retiring from full time service in the British Army. Qualified as a Lead Security & Information Risk Advisor and Senior Auditor under the CESG Certified Professional (CCP) scheme, Lawrie is a very experienced Cyber Security professional with strong leadership and organisational abilities. He has specialised in ISTAR and Defence related CIS projects and has extensive knowledge of HMG and MoD security policies and is fully cognisant of the latest technical cyber security and cryptographic mitigation measures. Whilst leading and assisting on projects for various UK Central Government Departments and commercial clients in the UK, NATO and the Middle East, he has provided Cyber Threat and Security Risk Assessments, information security and assurance, accreditation document sets and has also audited commercially to ISO 27001. Serving as an officer in both the Regular and then the Territorial Army, he developed a particular interest in the development of Cyber Defence Capability in multinational and joint cyber operations as part of which from 2013 -15, he planned and led the UK’s participation in Ex CYBER GUARD, the world’s largest real time Cyber Defence Exercise.
Russ Wardle OBE
Russ joined Arcanum in 2014 to oversee the day to day running of the Company, and has doubled the size and turnover of the company year on year. Prior to Arcanum, Russ was a career Army Officer serving on operations across the world. He has a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College and a Certificate in Strategic Direction and Leadership from Manchester University Business School. His Army career culminated with roles as a Brigade Commander responsible for all Army activity in Wales, in a senior NATO role in Iraq and, lastly, as Deputy Director, Strategy, Policy and Plans at United States Central Command. He applies a disciplined strategic view of long-term Company planning combined with a pragmatic approach to tailoring solutions and solving day to day challenges. Away from work he is Chairman of a military charity and an advocate for, and patron of, the Army Cadet Force.
